[The director of "Elden Ring: Lord of the Night" responded to Sony's acquisition of Kadokawa] Gamerant reported that Junya Ishizaki, the director of "Elden Ring: Lord of the Night", talked about Sony's acquisition of Kadokawa in an interview. He said: "To be honest, we are not aware of the specific progress of relevant discussions at this time. If it is indeed taking place, this is entirely handled directly by our parent company Kadokawa Group." This position indicates that if negotiations do exist, FromSoftware, as a subsidiary, may not Be directly involved. Since Sony acquired Bungie in 2022, it has been actively expanding its game studio lineup. As an important partner of PlayStation, FromSoftware has always been regarded as a potential acquisition target for Sony. Currently, Sony owns 14% of FS. In addition, Kadokawa Group also owns well-known animation IPs including "Sword Art Online", which means that Sony's acquisition is not limited to the gaming field, but can also gain greater advantages in the animation business.
