ZZZ has sparked debate between “Big Lei” and “Little Lei” fans, but one thing is certain — the characters are all visually appealing and very likable.
Each faction has its own unique flair. For example, characters from Hollow Special Operations Section “Cunning Hares” exhibit modern Chinese aesthetics — both in outfits and martial arts-inspired moves. Yixing uses Baguazhang, Fufu wields Tiger Fist, and the panda even uses pressure-point techniques.
These players don’t care about power levels — they simply pull for their favorite characters.
What’s great about ZZZ is that player skill has a major impact on performance. Even if a character isn’t considered meta, with the right playstyle and solid technique, they can still perform well. It’s a fun way to refine your own gameplay too.

On the flip side, we have the meta-chasers. These players only pull top-tier characters like Ellen Joe, Yixing, and Nicole, creating strong teams like Ellen–Soukaku–Corin or Yixing–Fufu–Grace. They also compare signature W-Engines and Bangboos carefully for the best performance boosts.
Among meta players, some go even further — the score chasers. These players don’t just want full stars in Hollow Zero or Shiyu Defense — they want the fastest clears and highest scores possible to climb the rankings. For them, reaching the top of every leaderboard is the ultimate goal.
4. Casual Players
Every version of ZZZ introduces fun events or mini-games — like “Bean Bros” or the current summer event. Some even feature competitive rankings.
These events share some mechanics with the main game — such as timing your button inputs — but without the intense combat. This makes them a more relaxing experience overall.
These modes add variety and help prevent burnout from constant combat against Ethereal threats.
5. Completionists and Collectors
These players aim for perfection. Every event needs to be completed, every weekly boss and Hollow Zero run needs to be cleared, and every Kurokawa Transport Truck on the map must be found. Collecting all of Meowji’s medals and unlocking as many achievements as possible is a must.
When pulling gacha, these players prioritize filling out their roster and W-Engine collection. If they miss out on a certain unit or Engine, it can be genuinely frustrating.
