Naiad (Grace)
In her early concept art, Naiad appeared as a hunched, frail figure, emphasizing her tragic backstory. These initial designs portrayed her as a human girl, lacking distinctive features.
Subsequent refinements introduced mutated elements, such as seaweed adornments and a floating posture, infusing her with aquatic characteristics.
This transformation from sketch to final design showcases a remarkable enhancement in visual storytelling.
The Broken Wheel (Bane)
The Broken Wheel's concept sketches incorporated elements like chains and ram horns, with each version presenting different postures and physiques.
The second sketch was ultimately chosen, and after adjusting the body proportions, the design was further refined. The final model exudes a more intimidating presence compared to the slender figure in the sketches, revealing a gentle heart beneath a rugged exterior.
Night Watch (Luchino)
Night Watch's early designs were imbued with an uncanny, non-human aura, blending elements like lanterns, stilts, beastly features, and snowy landscapes.
The third sketch served as the foundation for the final design. However, the designers felt it lacked the desired level of eeriness, leading them to modify the original concept instead of pursuing a new direction. The final product, featuring cat-like ears, adds a touch of charm to the character.
The Time Shadow (Aesop)
Aesop's four initial sketches each had unique traits, with the fourth depicting a pale figure surrounded by distorted, eerie forms, bearing little resemblance to the final design.
To amplify visual impact, the designers replaced the original appearance with three hollow, ghostly eyes, enhancing the character's oppressive aura and highlighting her mental manipulation abilities. Originally, Aesop possessed a maternal beauty—here's hoping the developers consider this for a future skin!
Although these drafts never made it into the game, they exemplify the artists' exceptional skills and creativity. Which character's concept art do you find most captivating? Thank you for reading! Wishing you continuous success and smooth gameplay ahead!
