In the initial concept of “Amber Tear,” both her Beauty Form and Oni Form were designed to show her bare feet.
But in the second, modified version, her feet were completely covered by the hem of her dress. Personally, I think the design looked better when the feet were visible. Perhaps the change was due to limitations in how much a purple-tier skin can deviate from the base model—what a pity. Recently, I’ve also noticed two popular rumors about Geisha’s feet.
Among all of Geisha’s skins, only the limited S-tier crossover skin Yuuko Ichihara (from xxxHOLiC) reveals her feet. Because the foot anchor point overlaps with Yuuko's unique animation system, many players speculated that “Amber Tear” might have reused Yuuko’s model. But this is actually not the case—a content creator has already debunked this through model analysis!
First of all, the models are clearly different. For example, when extracting the neck mesh, Amber Tear has a single unified neck model, while Yuuko’s neck is divided into two parts, with different thicknesses. The most obvious difference is in the head proportions. Crossover skins usually adjust the character’s body proportions to match the original work. As expected, the two models have different ratios—so the theory about reusing models doesn’t hold water.
I’ve also come across another wild rumor: that Geisha’s legs were chopped off by Miles’ father. But if you look at her walking animation in Beauty Form or her silhouette in the Geisha Tower of Ever Sleeping Town, it’s clear that her body is completely intact. So this theory is also groundless and not credible.
After researching traditional kimono design, I found that only formal and luxurious kimono styles cover the feet. But in the world of anime and games, characters don’t have to strictly follow real-world clothing rules. The reason Geisha rarely shows her legs and feet is likely due to early-stage technical limitations in modeling. To avoid model clipping issues, her feet were simply covered up.
Yuuko Ichihara’s leg modeling is very well done, and since the devs now have advanced modeling techniques, it’s likely that they are saving the visible-foot anchor point for future limited S-tier skins.
Hopefully, we’ll get to see more Geisha outfits that show her legs in the future! Thanks for reading this issue! And finally, may your pulls be golden and your rank ups flow like water!
