First Category: Characters with Highly Unique Appearances
The Night Watcher is a prime example — his anchors are his stilts and mask, both of which are completely fixed no matter what costume he wears. Especially those ultra-specific stilts — they’re so uniquely designed that trying to find a collaboration character that fits is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Then there’s the Escape Master, historically the unluckiest new character. His appearance rate is about as low as Aviator, and let’s not forget his iconic bald head, which has sky-high recognizability!
Aside from Bald Qiang or Saitama from One Punch Man, can you really think of any other suitable characters for a collab?
Second Category: Characters with Highly Specific Skills
Puppeteer is tightly tied to Louis, and Wildling is inseparable from his boar. Puppeteering is already a rare skill in other IPs, and Wildling’s boar companion? That combo is downright Arctic.
There’s also the Grave Keeper, who can burrow underground, and the Smiley Face, who wears a prosthetic limb. Their unique mechanics make it difficult to find suitable characters for collaborations.
Third Category: Non-Human-Type Hunters
Characters like The Nightmare, The Soul Weaver (Spider), Hastur (The Feaster), and Disciple all have extremely unique, non-human designs.
So far, only Bonbon has managed a lucky collab — with Kumamon, a character that matches his shape. But for the rest, their forms are so specific that finding compatible characters from other IPs is really tough.
Characters like Coordinator, Journalist, and Mercenary have simpler hand props or more flexible anchor points — even characters like the Knight, who has a more universal hand-held item, are much easier to pair up in collaborations.
