TL;DR
Question
Short answer (checked 2026-10-28)
Which currency costs money?
Crystgin (paid). Starchrom is earned in play and used for blueprint progress.
Best value pack?
$99.99 → 8,075 Crystgin at the Top-up Center = 80.8 per $1. But the curve flattens above $14.99 (74.7 per $1).
Top-up Center or in-game shop?
Same USD price; the Top-up Center adds about 3% more Crystgin (+2 to +195 per pack).
"Up to 24% bonus"?
Only true for the $99.99 pack, measured against base Crystgin. Versus the in-game shop it is about +2.5%.
First Top Up Double Bonus
Live since Oct 21 (PT). Once per tier, per account. Official example: 6,480 tier → 12,960 Crystgin. Other tier amounts not published.
Nov 5 07:00 next update · Nov 9 06:00 free mail-claim deadline · Nov 11 (server time) Halloween events end · ~Nov 19 Season 4 ends and the Isles permanent server is expected.
Safety rule
Official top-ups ask for User ID + server region + server. Never your password.
What went live on October 22: Isles of Abyss in one minute
Version 3.1.1 landed after maintenance on Oct 21, 4:00 PM PT (Oct 22, 07:00 UTC+8). It added Isles of Abyss, a free ocean PvE scenario, on PC, console and mobile (Steam announcement, 2026-10-21).
One naming note. Steam patch notes call the new rifle "SOCR – Cosmic Visitor", while app-store listings call it "SCAR-Outlander". Same update, two names; check your in-game text.
A cap applies. A cap notice when opening crates is due after the Nov 4 (PT) update
Players quote different Starchrom cap numbers on Reddit ("15,000 a week" vs other figures). We could not confirm an official number, so we won't print one.
Spelling tip: the official name is Crystgin. Some sites misspell it, and the Chinese client calls it 星源.

Where the value curve flattens
Here's the part nobody else seems to point out: almost all of the per-dollar gain happens in the first three steps.

My take: avoid the $0.99 pack except as a test, and don't stretch to $99.99 just for the rate. A $14.99 or $29.99 pack gets you most of the value.
Top-up Center vs in-game shop: the 3% and the "up to 24%" claim
The NetEase GamesClub Top-up Center sells the same packs at the same USD price as the in-game shop. Its own extra is a flat ~3% "GamesClub Bonus" on each Crystgin pack: +2, +9, +30, +60, +99 and +195.
On 2026-10-28 the official X account repeated the line "up to an additional 24% Crystgin" for the Top-up Center. Here is what that number really means.
Claim
What it actually is
"Up to 24%"
(1,400 standard pack bonus + 195 Top-up Center bonus) ÷ 6,480 base = 24.6%, on the $99.99 pack only.
Extra vs the in-game shop
About 2.5–3.3% (e.g. 8,075 vs 7,880 on the $99.99 pack).
Small packs
The $0.99 pack totals 3.3% over base, nowhere near 24%.
So the Top-up Center is the better official route, but by roughly 3%, not 24%.
First Top Up Double Bonus: what's confirmed and what isn't
NetEase announced the bonus in the 3.1.1 notes (Steam, 2026-10-21) and on X (2026-10-22). Here's the honest split:
Confirmed (official)
Not confirmed
Live from the Oct 21 (PT) update "until the next First Top Up Double Bonus reset"
The reset/end date
Every Crystgin tier qualifies, no threshold
Exact bonus for each tier except 6,480 ("refer to the in-game recharge page")
Once per tier, settled per account
Whether the Top-up Center pays the same double (its catalog marks first-purchase packs but lists no amount)
It "does not share with the Always On bonus" (official wording)
—
Using only the official example: 12,960 Crystgin for $99.99 is about 129.6 per $1, versus 7,880 (78.8 per $1) for a normal in-game purchase. I won't do the math for other tiers because NetEase hasn't published them. Open the in-game recharge page and read the number before you pay.
Also running: a Top-up Center team event (Oct 21 – Nov 4 PT). A team of 3 earns an 8% discount coupon; inviting a player inactive for 14 days earns 15% (official X, 2026-10-22).
Meta Pass and Battle Pass: prices and what you get
Item
Official price (checked 2026-10-28)
What's officially listed
Meta Pass (30 days)
$4.99
"Instantly receive 300 Crystgin" + 30 days of privileges (PlayStation Store listing); max retention 180 days
15 instant Battle Pass levels, the themed fashion set on login, plus the epic "Phantom Card" Hype collectible and "Conjurer's Tea Party" cradle skin
Shining New Star Selection Gift Pack
$0.99
Pick 2 of 6 rewards + 60 Crystgin; limit 1
Two things to know. First, many reseller pages still show $23.99 for Deluxe; the official page showed $21.49 on 2026-10-28, with no end date given. Second, the season's pass is named "Ace Under Mask" in the patch notes but "Wildcard Masquerade" in the official YouTube trailer. Same pass.
Meta Pass math (approximate): the $4.99 pack gives 339 Crystgin at the Top-up Center. If the Meta Pass's 300 Crystgin applies on PC too, you trade about 30–40 Crystgin for 30 days of perks. The 300 figure comes from the PlayStation Store listing, so treat this as an estimate.
Free tip: the Isles celebration mail includes a 30-day Meta Pass Trial Card. Claim it before Nov 8, 2:00 PM PT (Nov 9, 06:00 UTC+8) and judge the perks before paying.
What the community says (opinion, not fact): We found no high-engagement Reddit or YouTube thread rating Battle Pass value in the last 60 days. In an Oct 8 r/OnceHumanOfficial endgame thread (202 upvotes), one commenter called the loop "a treadmill to micro transactions", while the top comment called it a relaxing place to play.

Source: NetEase Games Top-up Center (US), checked 2026-10-28. Per-player cost is our calculation on the 30-day plan.
60-day plans save little or nothing. For 4 and 10 players they cost slightly more per month than the 30-day plan.
90/180 days save about 9–13%. The 100-player plan saves 21% at 90 or 180 days.
Hosting bonus: custom-server hosts can earn up to 100 Worldcoin from Oct 22 to Nov 11 (3.1.1 notes).
Some third-party guides still list older, much lower rental prices (e.g. $2.99 for 4 players). Those don't match the official page.
Safe top-up checklist
Prefer official routes. The NetEase GamesClub Top-up Center (pay.neteasegames.com) or the in-game shop through your platform's store.
Copy your User ID from the game. The Top-up Center logs in with User ID + server region + server, with no password.
Match region and server. If you moved to an Isles of Abyss server, re-check which server you select.
Read the recharge page before paying. That is where NetEase says the per-tier double bonus is shown.
Never share your password or 2FA codes with anyone, seller or "helper".
Screenshot the receipt (order ID, time, UID).
Restart before panicking. If you hit Crystgin not received after top-up, check the UID/server, relog, then contact the seller's support with the receipt.
About third-party sellers: independent sellers resell Crystgin packs. For example, independent third-party service BitTopup listed packs about 12–13% below the official US list price when we checked on 2026-10-28 (prices change; compare current Crystgin pack prices). Third-party purchases sit outside NetEase's own channels, NetEase's terms still apply to your account, and whether official promos like the Double Bonus apply to a third-party purchase is not confirmed.
Is Crystgin priced the same everywhere? (informational)
Mostly, on the Top-up Center. It shows near-identical digits per region: the 300 pack is $4.99, €4.99, ¥800, ₩7,000, ₽430 or NT$150. At Oct 28 exchange rates that's about 111% of the US price in EUR and 93% in TWD (own calc).
Steam DLC is different. The Ascend Daily Theme Pack is $24.99 in the US, about $27.95 in the UK and about $11.40 in Indonesia (Steam Store API, 2026-10-28, own FX conversion). That's an observation, not advice: Steam's region and payment rules apply to your account.
What players are asking (community views, October 2026)
These answers mix official facts with clearly labelled player opinions from r/OnceHumanOfficial.
Is Isles of Abyss worth playing?
Facts: It's free, starts you at max level and runs about 21 days per cycle. Phase II adds the Sunken Lord endgame. The official Oct 28 fix post says some servers had failed to enter Phase II at 100% progress; that's now fixed.
Community view: In an Oct 27 thread (64 comments) the top reply said loot is "better than in any other scenario", though gold and silver are scarce. Others called Phase I thin. Players also say the first ~10 servers had already reached Phase II.
Facts: In Isles it's the Sunken Lord stage, which also drops the new Precision Load and Turret Enhancement mods and the new "Duet" Deviation.
Community view: Long-term players are split. Some play it as a relaxing builder; one popular complaint blames the Starchrom cap for capping progress. A common Starchrom tip (23 upvotes): max one weapon and one armor piece, then use blueprint conversion.
Facts: You sign up for Isles from the scenario selection screen. The Isles permanent server opens before the first batch closes (expected Nov 18 PT), so everyone can merge. Under the Sep 15 merge rules, level, supplies and tech level move over without loss, but you can't return to a merged-away server.
Community view: Server-choice threads are full of contradicting answers. Moving between regions (e.g. EU to US) is described as a full restart. Spend Crystgin on the character and server you'll actually keep.
Not through normal play (Dot Esports). It comes from top-ups and some paid items such as the Meta Pass. Your free grind goes into Starchrom.
Is the Top-up Center safe?
It's NetEase's own GamesClub store, linked from the official site. It asks for User ID, server region and server, never your game password.
Does Crystgin carry across PC, console and mobile?
Not officially confirmed for currency. NetEase's console PR mentions cross-play and cross-progression, and the Top-up Center catalog lists PC, Android and iOS. Console isn't listed there, so console players should buy through their platform store.
Which pack should I buy?
For most players, $14.99 or $29.99. Above that you gain under 4% per dollar.
When does Season 5 start?
Not announced. Season 4 "Gravity Abyss" is set to end Nov 18 (PT).
