Sugo is a real, free-to-install voice-chat app, but it is not trouble-free: Google Play shows 3.1 stars, and about 43% of ratings are one star. Gifts and VIP run on paid Coins, many users report paid messaging, and purchases are non-refundable. Here is the evidence, plus a dated Sugo coins top-up price check.
Everything below was checked on Oct 24, 2026 (UTC+8) against the live store listings, Sugo's own Terms and public user reviews. Where I couldn't verify something, I say so.
What is Sugo used for? The 60-second version
Sugo (store names: "SUGO: Voice Chat Party" on Google Play, "SUGO-Online Chat Party" on the App Store) is a social app built around group voice-chat rooms. You can also do private text, voice and video chat, post Moments, and send animated gifts and medals. It is not a classic video live-stream platform.

Is the Sugo app real or fake? What 164,029 ratings actually say
The app, the company and the store listings are real. What people really mean when they ask "is it fake?" is "will it deliver what the ads promise?" The rating data says: for a big group of users, no.
The star split on Google Play is polarized, not mediocre. Roughly 81,000 ratings are 5 stars and roughly 70,000 are 1 star, with very little in between. Google's histogram shifts slightly between page loads, so read the shares as about ±1 point.

On the App Store the US rating is 2.94, against 3.79 to 4.48 for the eight comparable apps I could find with US listings (MICO is the lowest of those at 3.79).
The star mix changes a lot by country
Google Play shows the same total (164,029 ratings) in every storefront I opened, but a very different star mix. Egypt looks like a different app from the US.

One caution: I can't tell you why the mix differs. Some 5-star reviews, especially from Indonesia, read like promotion for an earning app. A Japanese review tracker (Sakura-killer, Oct 5, 2026) independently estimates 24% "unnatural" high ratings. That is a third-party estimate, so take it as a hint, not proof.
What unhappy users actually complain about
I pulled the newest public reviews and counted themes by keyword. Because it's keyword matching, these counts are a floor, not an exact figure. The samples are the newest reviews, not random ones.

Two things stand out. "Scam" and "fake" are the most common words, but in the reviews I read they often point at the pay-to-chat experience: people say they were promised free chat and then asked to pay, or that the person they chatted with only wanted gifts. And nobody has proven that chat partners are bots. That is suspicion in the reviews, and I won't state it as fact.
Who owns Sugo? Mobile Alpha Limited vs "IndiaMasterApp"
This is one of the Google "People also ask" questions, and the honest answer has a wrinkle. The name on the contract is Mobile Alpha Limited, a Hong Kong company. The name on Google Play is something else.

Codashop (retailer)
Says it "partnered with Mobile Alpha Limited" (a retailer claim; Sugo doesn't list it)
For what it's worth, the iOS seller of another voice-room app, YoHo, is also Mobile Alpha Limited. I did not find any official Sugo page that explains how "Mobile Alpha Limited", "IndiaMasterApp" and "Mico World Limited" relate. So I won't guess. The practical takeaway: if a seller or video tells you "Sugo is owned by X", ask where they got it.
Sugo vs Sugo Lite: two different apps
Search results mix them, and users do too (one complaint was literally "not Sugo Lite"). They are separate apps with separate listings.

Sugo coins vs diamonds in plain English
People search "Sugo diamonds recharge", but every store and reseller sells Coins. Here is the split:
Coins
Diamonds
Who gets them
Users who buy (and send gifts)
Users who receive gifts, chat or complete tasks (mostly hosts)
What they do
Buy gifts and VIP (official Japan help page)
Host earnings that can be cashed out under host rules
Can you buy them?
Yes, via the in-app store or third-party top-up
No, they are earned
Can they become cash?
No. Terms §6.5: virtual items "cannot be exchanged for the legal currency of any country or region"
Cash-out exists only through the host programme (see the withdrawals section)
My rule of thumb: never treat coins as an investment or something you can get back. Once they're in your account, they only have value inside Sugo.
Does chatting on Sugo cost coins? What users report
This is the question that drives most 1-star reviews. I couldn't find any official page that states a price per message or a free-chat rule. All I have is what users write, and I'll label it that way.
Reported cost
Where and when
20 coins per message
Google Play reviews (Philippines, Oct 10 and 12, 2026); App Store (India, Sep 26, 2025); App Store (Philippines, Jun 14, 2026)
10 coins per emoji
Google Play review (Philippines, Oct 11, 2026)
30 coins, "later 60 or more"
Taiwan blog attn.cc, Sep 2026
40 coins per message
Google Play review (Indonesia, Oct 18, 2026)
These numbers disagree, so the price may differ by region, account or time. One review asks Sugo to "bring back the 20 coins per message", which hints at a recent change, but no official source confirms it.
The attn.cc blog also says chat is free after a mutual follow. That is one blogger's report, not an official rule. Several Play reviews from Oct 15–21, 2026 say the ads claimed no top-up was needed, and then a top-up was requested after one reply. Sugo's reply to one review on Oct 19, 2026 says: "We will review our currency system to ensure it's reasonable and transparent."
What a message habit costs in real money
If the 20-coin figure is right for you, the cost per 100 messages is 2,000 coins. This table converts that using the 1,200-coin pack price on each channel (Oct 24, 2026, page prices before any checkout fees):
Channel (1,200-coin pack)
Price per 1,000 coins
2,000 coins (100 messages at 20 coins)
App Store (US)
$0.825
$1.65
Codashop (US)
$0.742
$1.48
BitTopup, displayed price
$0.633
$1.27
It's small money per message, which is exactly why it adds up fast. Set a monthly limit before you start, and don't expect the conversation to become a relationship. If someone asks you to gift more coins to keep talking, that's the cue to stop.
Is Sugo safe? Scams, blackmail and the off-app trap
Sugo is 18+ by its own Terms. Sugo's Japan help page also warns that it cannot control what happens outside the app and that off-app dealings carry fraud risk. Reviews and Reddit posts describe the pattern that gets people hurt (including a Spanish-language post on r/Sextortion from Jan 2026).
Red flags I'd treat as a hard stop
They ask you to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or another app within the first few messages.
They push for an instant video call or intimate photos.
They ask for gifts or coins before they'll keep chatting.
They threaten to share a photo or recording unless you pay.
If someone is blackmailing you
Stop replying. Don't pay: payment rarely ends it.
Screenshot the profile, messages and any payment demands.
Report and block the user inside Sugo.
Report it to your local police or national cybercrime service, with the screenshots.
I found no official safety statistics for Sugo, so I won't quote any scam rate. What I can say: the reviews that mention blackmail come mostly from India, the Philippines and Latin America, and they span 2024 to 2026.
Free Sugo coins, hacks and MOD APKs
Google asks "Where can I get free Sugo coins?" The honest answer: I found no official global list of free-coin methods. What Google and X give you instead is spam. One X account kept posting "free Sugo coins hack" links between March 2025 and April 2026. I couldn't verify a single working generator, and none is official.
A coin generator needs your login or a "verification" step. That is how accounts get stolen.
Terms allow Sugo to restrict or ban accounts without prior notice, and the user bears the risk (Terms §3.5, §4.4).
The only genuine freebies I found are small: the attn.cc blog says red packets in chat rooms give a few coins, and the Japan account runs promo codes (the Oct 2026 code unlocks cosmetic items, not coins, and is for the Japan market).
Don't install a MOD APK. For the real app, use the App Store or Google Play listing, not an APK mirror.

The rule that matters is Sugo's own: adults only. Don't let a younger family member use it.

Sugo coin prices compared: App Store vs Codashop vs SEAGM vs BitTopup
Nobody I found publishes a dated side-by-side, so I made one. All prices are the displayed product-page prices in US dollars on Oct 24, 2026. Google Play only shows a price range per item ($0.49–$99.99), not per pack, so the official baseline is the US App Store. I did not test checkout fees, payment-method surcharges or taxes.

Source: product pages of each seller and the US App Store, Oct 24, 2026. BitTopup analysis; the 65,000-coin pack has no US App Store price to compare.
How to read it, plainly:
BitTopup is the store publishing this article, so apply your own skepticism. On Oct 24, 2026 its displayed price was the lowest of the four channels on all seven packs, and 23% to 31% below the US App Store price on the six packs Apple lists.
Ignore the crossed-out price on the BitTopup page. It's BitTopup's own list price, and it's already below the App Store price, so it is not a saving against Apple or Google.
If a displayed price and the final total ever differ, the checkout total is the one that counts. Check it before you pay.
Codashop and SEAGM are third-party sellers, not Sugo. Codashop says it partners with Mobile Alpha Limited, but Sugo does not list it. I can't confirm any seller's "official distributor" label, and BitTopup doesn't claim one either.
The App Store price is not the same in every country
The same 1,200-coin pack costs the equivalent of $0.825 per 1,000 coins in the US and $1.65 in Brazil. If you top up in-app, your country sets the price.
Source: App Store listings of each storefront and open.er-api.com FX rates, Oct 24, 2026. BitTopup analysis.
Why does the App Store list two 1,200-coin packs?
Apple's list shows two products at each price. For example, 1,200 coins and 4,800 coins are both $0.99, and 2,400 and 9,600 are both $1.99. Neither Apple's page nor Sugo explains this, so I won't give you a reason. Here is what I can say: if the 4,800-coin option were available to everyone, it would work out near $0.21 per 1,000 coins, far below every price in my table. Treat any seller who promises "4x coins" as unverified until you see it in the app yourself.
How to top up Sugo coins safely by UID: 6 steps
Sugo's own Japan help page names the App Store and Google Play in-app purchase as the official routes. I found no official web store. If you use a third-party top-up, use this checklist, whoever you buy from:
Open Sugo and tap Me (profile). Your numeric ID sits under your nickname. Copy it with the copy icon (menu layout can change between versions).
Check which app you have: SUGO or Sugo Lite. They are separate apps.
Don't use a seller that asks for your password, a login or an SMS code. A numeric ID is all a UID top-up needs.
Pick the pack, paste the ID, and read the checkout total before paying. On BitTopup's UID-only Sugo checkout, for example, you enter the ID and pick a payment method; the page also says it does not apply to Sugo Taiwan UIDs.
Save the receipt and order number.
Open the app, check your balance, and restart the app if the balance hasn't updated. BitTopup says orders usually complete within a few minutes.
Be honest with yourself about refunds. Sugo's Terms (§6.4) say: "Once the transaction is completed, such payment cannot be revoked, refunded, or reversed." A mistyped ID is the classic way to lose coins, so double-check every digit. BitTopup's page promises a refund if an order is never delivered or can't be used. It makes no promise about an ID you typed wrong.
Third-party video by How To Tuts, not an official Sugo video. The app's menus may differ from your version.
Sugo withdrawals: why iOS shows "Exchange" and what is actually verified
Diamonds are earned, not bought, and I found no global withdrawal page from Sugo. Here is what I could verify, split by what's official:
Question
What I can verify
Status
Can diamonds become cash?
The Japan help page describes cash-out for qualified hosts: ID verification plus a bank account, via "Diamonds" then "Withdraw".
Official (Japan only)
Rate
An official Japan note says 5,000 diamonds ≈ ¥145, varying with exchange rates (note dated Apr 21, 2025).
Official, older than 6 months, Japan only
Review schedule
Withdrawals are reviewed on Mondays and Thursdays; payout within a week of review (same Apr 2025 note).
Official, Japan only, 2025
Is an agency required?
The official Japan note says monetizing is possible without one. Recruiters on X say it's required.
Conflicting
Minimum diamonds
Third-party figures range from 5,000 to 50,000. None is official.
Not verified
iPhone shows "Exchange", not "Withdraw"
Multiple App Store and complaint-site users report it (2025–2026). I found no official explanation.
User-reported
From the one official rate, 5,000 diamonds ≈ ¥145 is about ¥0.029 per diamond. That figure is for Japan in 2025, so don't use it to plan global earnings. The Terms (§6.5) say virtual items can't be exchanged for legal currency, while the Japan help page describes a host cash-out. They fit together only if cash-out is a separate host programme, and I couldn't find the global rules for it.
I also won't quote income claims from recruiters or YouTube titles. None of them can be checked.
Why Sugo accounts get banned, and how to appeal
Bans are the top theme on the Sikayetvar complaints page for Sugo (about 12 of roughly 35 listed complaints from Jul–Oct 2026). Sugo publishes no list of triggers, and the Terms let it restrict, ban or freeze accounts without prior notice (§3.5, §4.4). So here is a pattern list of what users say got them banned. It is user-reported and unconfirmed.

Google Play (Indonesia), Oct 18, 2026
Some users get "device abnormal" blocks when creating a new account. These reports recur nearly every month on Sikayetvar (Jun, Sep and Oct 2026).
How to appeal: 5 steps
Note your SUGO ID, device model, app version and the exact error text.
Take screenshots of the ban message and your coin and diamond balance.
Use the in-app customer service (the Japan help names Me → Contact → Customer Center; menu names can differ).
Email support too: customer@sugo.com (Play listing), support@sugo.com (App Store listing) or contact@sugochat.com (sugo.com).
Be patient. Replies on complaint sites came 8 to 60 days later and were templates asking for ID, email and phone.
Never pay anyone offering to "unban" your account, and don't buy a replacement account. A coin purchase won't remove a restriction, and Sugo's own blog says not to assume it will.

Sugo's latest version: what's new
The update notes are generic. Google Play's "What's new" says "Solve some known issues for a smoother experience~". Apple's says "Fixed various known issues for better performance and stability~". So nobody outside Sugo can tell you what a given version changed.
What I can tell you is the cadence. The App Store history shows a release every two to four weeks (2.47.0 on Jun 12, 2026; 2.48.0 on Jul 3; 2.49.0 on Jul 26; 2.50.0 on Aug 27; 2.51.0 on Sep 4). Android is currently a step ahead at 2.52.0.2. Some third-party pages lag behind the stores (one search result listed version 2.48.0.1), which is one more reason to use the official listings.

Sugo FAQ: quick answers
Is the Sugo app free or paid?
Free to install and join. Gifts and VIP are bought with Coins, in-app purchases run $0.49–$99.99 per item on Google Play (US), and many users report paying coins to message.
How do I chat for free on Sugo?
No official page gives the rules. One Taiwan blog (Sep 2026) says chat is free after a mutual follow, and many reviewers say messages cost coins. Treat both as unofficial.
How do I recharge Sugo?
Officially via App Store or Google Play in-app purchase. Third-party sellers take your numeric UID. See the six steps above, and read the checkout total.
Where can I get free Sugo coins?
I found no official global source. Skip generators and MOD APKs.
Who owns Sugo?
The Terms name Mobile Alpha Limited (Hong Kong). Google Play shows "IndiaMasterApp" with "Mico World Limited" business details. No official page connects the names.
Can I get a refund on Sugo coins?
Sugo's Terms (§6.4) say completed payments can't be revoked, refunded or reversed. A third-party seller's own policy may differ, so read it before you buy.
Is Sugo a video live-streaming app?
Mostly voice rooms. Video calls exist, but I'd call it a voice-chat party app rather than a live-stream platform.
Third-party review from Nov 4, 2024 by EasyInternet. It is about two years old, so check details against the current listing.
My bottom line
Sugo is real, but it's a polarizing, coin-driven app, and its store rating shows it. If you try it: stay inside the app, never move to another messenger, set a coin budget, and remember that completed payments can't be refunded under the Terms. Compare the checkout total, not the crossed-out price, and remember that your country changes the App Store price before you decide where to buy.
