Identity V | The Removed Junji Ito Easter Eggs in Eversleeping Town

Eversleeping Town was once the setting for a collaboration map between Identity V and the Junji Ito Collection, packed with eerie easter eggs referencing his iconic horror stories.

The Boy at the Crossroads

In the old residential area of Eversleeping Town, there used to be a foggy corner where the silhouette of a beautiful boy slowly emerged. This was a reference to the "Boy at the Crossroads" from the original manga—an ethereal figure who appears only when a hopeful girl stands at a crossroads and asks him a question.

Very handsome, but in anime, people who see him usually don't have a good ending~

Tomie Kawakami in the toilet

If you entered the school restroom on the first floor, you might suddenly catch a glimpse of Tomie hiding behind a stall door. In the dim lighting, her vivid red eyes stared right at you—this one was genuinely creepy!

In the original manga, Tomie is an immortal girl who can’t be killed and endlessly regenerates, creating countless versions of herself.

Can you believe this dual-form S-tier skin, with such insane detail, was redeemable with purple clues? The collab first dropped in 2019, and fans waited five long years for a rerun. When it finally returned in April 2024, the servers were literally flooded. That’s the power of Tomie.

Crawling Puppet on the Tracks

Along the train tracks where Train Conductor Brother appears, a mutilated puppet with only its upper body intact could be seen slowly crawling using its hands. This disturbing creature wasn’t removed and originates from the story The Puppet Family. The limited-time pet "Jiangpiye" was also based on this tale.

The pet looks so scruffy it’s almost comical—so ugly it loops back around to being a must-buy.

The blood jade tree next to the mansion

Also located in the same residential area as the beautiful boy, near one of the villas stood a bizarre tree bearing crimson fruit, tempting passersby to eat it. This grotesque, sanity-shattering visual is directly inspired by Junji Ito’s original work—and yes, it’s as creepy as it sounds.

Though the tree was later removed from the map, the portrait frame featuring it still exists. It pairs beautifully with the Tomie avatar and can be obtained by purchasing the collab frame bundle!

Tomie, the chances of her returning are slim, after all, there are five years between her launch and the first remake! But any collaboration may have the possibility of returning!
