TOP 7: Grace
Grace, an S-rank standard character, was essentially ZZZ's early attempt at designing anomaly units. However, due to clunky mechanics and awkward gameplay, her current performance is poor. While her buildup potential isn’t inherently weak, she heavily relies on chaining basic attacks with skill usage, which makes her tempo fragile unless teammates provide an ideal setup. As a result, her practical performance suffers, making it hard to balance offense and survival.
With characters like Jane (Physical Anomaly) and Rina (direct upgrade) surpassing her in both numbers and fun factor, Grace has fallen out of favor. Not recommended for investment.
TOP 6: Piper
After the releases of Kaela and Bernice, Piper rose as the best-performing A-rank anomaly unit. With Bernice enabling constant anomaly buildup from the backline and Piper’s ability to burst in quick swaps, her damage flow has become smooth and reliable.
With her enhanced special skill, she can even outperform 0+1 Jane in burst damage—making her an excellent choice for Physical comps, especially for those who didn’t pull Jane.
However, with Alice (another Physical Anomaly unit) coming in 2.1, players with enough budget may prefer pulling her instead, making Piper less essential in the long run.
TOP 5: Jane
Jane’s numbers and mechanics aren’t bad at all. As a veteran main DPS from version 1.1, her strong anomaly damage floor keeps her viable in favorable environments.
Since Vivian’s debut in 1.7, Jane gained broader utility beyond just Physical or Fire setups. She can now thrive even in Ether-weak environments, significantly improving her versatility. With the ongoing anomaly-friendly 2.0 meta and upcoming characters like Yuye and Alice in 2.1, Jane still has room to shine.
TOP 4: Vivian
Vivian, alongside Bernice, acts as a secondary anomaly DPS. Her unique [Discharge] mechanic can substantially enhance the team’s overall anomaly output. She scales in strength depending on how well the main anomaly DPS performs.
Compared to Bernice, Vivian has a higher ceiling but suffers from lower general usability due to weaker rotations and a dependency on the main DPS’s buildup rate. While Bernice is more consistent, Vivian outperforms her when given proper investment—such as signature weapon or I-level Shaders—making her a high-risk, high-reward choice.
TOP 3: Bernice
Bernice is a highly versatile backline anomaly unit. She provides consistent off-field anomaly buildup and excellent burst buildup through her empowered special skill. In disorder-based teams, she’s crucial for syncing detonation timing, offering flexible damage windows.
She works well with virtually any anomaly main DPS, making her both strong and adaptable. While she and Vivian often compete for a slot, they generally operate in different elemental environments—Bernice shines in Fire-weak setups, and Vivian excels in Ether-weak ones.
TOP 2: Rina (Rin)
Rina is arguably the busiest anomaly character right now. Often paired with Vivian or Bernice in traditional Disorder teams, Rina stands on-field to generate buildup and can be used across multiple elemental environments. She also fits extremely well into Xingmei’s team, forming the powerful "Moon-Star Disorder" core.
Her Polarity Disorder mechanic rapidly stacks Xingmei’s layers and accelerates activation, making her an excellent synergy pick. When Yuye arrives in 2.1, Rina will likely become the anomaly unit with the widest usage across all modes. A future-proof investment.
TOP 1: Xingmei (Xing Jianya)
Currently the only Hunt-Faction anomaly DPS, Xingmei is the narrative and mechanical powerhouse of ZZZ. She blends raw direct damage with anomaly mechanics, making her uniquely dominant.
She can run a traditional disorder comp with Rina, a pure solo-core with Yanny double support, or even an efficient “Wolf-Cang” team for Break-focused content. While the new "Corrupt Breath" mechanic in 2.0 slightly limits her performance and Yixuan is shaping up to be a rival in 2.1, Xingmei’s top-tier flexibility ensures she remains the best main carry in the anomaly meta.
Summary
While the 2.0 anomaly meta is challenged by the new Corrupt Breath mechanic, 2.1’s upcoming Yuye will likely bring solid reinforcements. For now, Xingmei remains the top pick, supported by the core trio of Rina, Vivian, and Bernice. Jane and Piper still have niche applications in ideal environments but lack broader applicability. As for Grace... well, pulling her might just break your heart.
