With the 3.5 characters confirmed, recommended team compositions are mostly settled as well. For newer players joining late, which teams are truly worth building? Let’s take a look together.
1. All-Rounder: Jade (Ruan Mei) + Trailblazer + Xianzhou Yunli + Sparkle
This versatile team is centered around the anniversary-highlighted character Sparkle (遐蝶), who boasts a unique storage-based skill. A lineup of Sparkle + Trailblazer + Ruan Mei + Xianzhou Yunli performs well across all three Memory of Chaos cycles.
That said, keep in mind that future supports even better suited for Sparkle are almost guaranteed to arrive, likely replacing the Trailblazer and Ruan Mei. Still, given the anniversary spotlight and her potential longevity, this team will stay viable through version 4.0 at least.
2. Top-Tier DPS: Bluthochzeit (Boothill) + Aventurine Core
Often called the “White-Boothill” team (白厄队), this setup—preferably with a healer—is currently a T0-level team. However, be aware that not all ideal teammates for Boothill are available just yet, which could be a concern for newer players.
Still, given the team’s high power level, and if the aesthetics or personality appeal to you, it’s totally worth slowly completing the lineup over time.
3. Fan-Favorite Potential: March 7th + Yunli (昔涟)
This potential team is not confirmed, but it's an exciting prospect. March 7th is the game’s mascot, and Yunli is currently a massively hyped character. Given that both are pink-haired fan-favorites, it’s safe to assume the devs will make sure they perform well together to drive sales.
Advice for New Players
If you’re just starting and don’t have access to limited-time characters yet, it’s a good idea to start with the free character “Red A” and use that to figure out your team direction. Then, pull for characters one by one to complete the teams.
Keep in mind that every version tends to feature one major anniversary character push and one or two “meta” team builds. As power creep is real in Honkai: Star Rail, it’s often best to invest in two complete team archetypes per version at most.
So don’t worry too much—if you can build one strong team per version, that’s already great. For everything else, just pull based on your personal favorites (XP).
