Honkai: Star Rail offers 67 playable characters. All of these characters belong to either 4-Star or 5-Star rarity. The 5-Star characters are exclusive. You can get a guaranteed 5-Star character after 300 pulls on the Stellar Warp banner. However, players can use Honkai: Star Rail Oneiric Shards from the versatile store. These shards can be exchanged for Stellar Jades, which can then be exchanged for characters. Furthermore, these characters are divided into Paths and Elements. They each belong to one of 8 Paths and also to one of the 7 available Elements. Additionally, they are divided into tiers based on their overall performance.
Tier System
There are three tiers in the list, namely Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow. The characters are ranked based on their performance in these three modes. Finally, we also rank them generally based on their scores in the given categories.
The overall performance of a character is judged based on its DPS, Support, and Sustain. DPS is the evaluation of their damage effectiveness. Support refers to the strength of the buffs and debuffs they provide. Sustain is the evaluation of the endurance of their shields or healing powers. The magnitude of their excellence in their respective roles divides them into SS-Tier, S+-Tier, S-Tier, A-Tier, B-Tier, and C-Tier. The SS-Tier has the most outstanding performance without any help from other mechanics or characters. Similarly, C-Tier characters require multiple investments and equipment to perform ideally.
Overall Rankings
Most of the SS-Tier characters in all the listed tiers are 5-Star rarity characters. For example, MyDei, Herta, Tribbie, etc. Therefore, it is very beneficial to have these exclusive characters, with SS-Tier and S+-Tier being consistently rated. Herta
