Let’s first compare the 3-view model with the promotional poster: the poster looks bright and vivid, while the 3-view model is several shades darker. The difference in style is quite obvious—details like the stripes on the pants are missing in the 3-view.
That said, the dark tone of the 3-view model fits the PV’s gothic atmosphere better and aligns more with the theme of Strange Thoughts Collection. Compared to that, the poster feels a bit like “false advertising”!
The showcase animation features adorable comic-style panels and speech bubbles, giving the impression of a 3D character stepping into a 2D world. The speedy little snail is also super cute, charging ahead at full throttle with Crying Clown in tow. Getting hit by that rocket looks like it’d leave you stunned for a long time!
The little snail even speaks through comic-style speech bubbles! It’s surprising to see a "manga panel" inside Identity V. The jetpack on Crying Clown’s back probably came from Aviator—though he doesn't seem to be very skilled at using it just yet. Might need some coaching! Perhaps Crying Clown is finally getting his own version of the infinite dash.
This skin is full of detailed touches—the makeup has a soft pink hue, and the tear stains look like melting cream, giving the face a very cute look. The snail slime on the head, though, looks a bit stiff and unnatural. The prosthetic leg doubles as a pedal-driven cart, and the hat is topped with dangling star ornaments. The toothy mouth, snail shell, and waist mask are all delightfully freaky!
In-game, the costume feels quite heavy, especially with the large snail shell and rocket pack on the back. The snail on top of his head also has speech bubbles and jet effects. It seems the designer even gave Crying Clown a little “skirt”—the frilly hem is super cute. The rocket snail’s big front teeth and long yellow antennae remind some players of two… very familiar characters.
In the end, all we can say is: designer 智虫Giegie is truly ahead of their time.
