Preview Time
The 2.1 version preview will go live on July 4th (Friday) at 19:30. This update is themed "Tide of Languid Whispers". The preview image showcases blue waves, white clouds, and a seamless blend of sea and sky—suggesting a light-hearted and relaxing summer-themed version. Hopefully, it lives up to the vibe!
The two characters featured in the key visual are Alice and Soukaku Youye, both charming girls from the Hollow Special Operations Section (a.k.a. “House of Banquet”), known for handling supernatural and bizarre incidents. What kind of sparks will they bring in version 2.1? We'll have to wait and see!
A Mysterious Surprise?
Interestingly, the preview announcement emphasized that a "mysterious surprise" will be revealed during the stream. Can you guess what it might be?
Considering July 4th marks the first anniversary of Zenless Zone Zero’s launch, it’s easy to imagine that the devs might prepare a special anniversary gift for us. It’s probably not a free character—but could it be a generous 1600 Polychromes, or a free 10-pull?

2.1 Version Rate-Up Characters
Based on previous “satellite” reveals from the developers, Soukaku Youye is expected to be the first-half rate-up character, with Alice following in the second half. Here’s a quick look at their roles:
Soukaku Youye (S-Rank Physical Support)
She will be the second limited S-rank support in the game. Based on Alice’s presumed role, it’s very likely that Youye is a top-tier support specifically for Disorder teams. She could offer much greater utility than Yao Jiayin and become a core part of that team setup. Highly recommended for those investing in Disorder comps.
Alice (S-Rank Physical Disorder)
The second S-rank physical Disorder agent after Jian. However, unlike Jian, Alice will probably follow a direct damage output model, similar to Anby Demara. With Soukaku Youye’s support, her strength should be solid. For players without Jian or Piper, she could be the go-to physical DPS for current meta counters.
What Else is Coming in 2.1?
New Bangboo
With the addition of new agents from the "House of Banquet," it's all but confirmed we’ll see a new Bangboo that complements the Disorder comp—possibly the best one yet for that team.
New Map
New Eridu is surrounded by mountains and sea, and in version 2.1 we’ll likely explore a new seaside area, bringing a festive summer atmosphere to the game.
New Costumes
Although we just got new outfits for the Protagonist and Yin Lin in version 2.0, a summer beach version would be the perfect excuse to release swimsuits! Expect potential summer skins for the Protagonist, Soukaku Youye, and Alice—definitely something worth looking forward to.
