[Eidos Montreal announces layoffs, reports say the new "Deus Ex" game has been cancelled] Eidos Montreal issued a layoff announcement today, confirming that the company will lay off 97 employees, including the development team, support services and management team. Swedish game manufacturer Embracer Group acquired Eidos Montreal from SE in 2022. Afterwards, there was news that a new "Deus Ex" game was promoted to the schedule. Earlier today, Bloomberg reported that Embracer has canceled a new "Deus Ex" game that has been in development for about two years and laid off multiple employees as part of a cost-cutting plan, according to people familiar with the matter. Subsequently, Eidos Montreal's layoff announcement was released. Although it did not mention "Deus Ex" and information about projects under development, this may also confirm the authenticity of the above rumors from the side.
